Our Advocacy Approach

Our Mission

At HURAA, we believe that advocacy is key to raising autism awareness and acceptance within the Harvard community. We organize events and campaigns that aim to educate people about autism and promote acceptance of neurodiversity. Our goal is to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with autism at Harvard and beyond.

Our Vision

Our vision is a world where individuals with autism are fully accepted and embraced for who they are. We believe that everyone has unique strengths and abilities, and that autism is a part of the diverse human experience. Through our advocacy work and community events, we hope to promote a culture of acceptance and understanding, where individuals with autism can thrive and be celebrated.

Our Team

HURAA is one of two college groups in Boston that work together to put on weekly social events for teens and young adults with special needs. Together with Boston University's Student Volunteers for Special Needs, HURAA participates in Friday Night Clubs (or FNC's). These events are planned and executed by these Harvard College volunteers, each of whom is dedicated to mentoring our teenagers and making sure they have the best possible experience, each and every week. Our volunteers are as different as each of our teens, but they all have one thing in common: they care immensely for the work they do and the teens they mentor at FNC's. Below you can learn a bit more about some of the Harvard board members and volunteers!

About HURAA

Harvard Undergraduate Raising Autism Awareness (HURAA) is a college club that aims to raise autism awareness within Harvard University through various advocacy events. We also provide community space and social connection on Friday nights for families in Cambridge and Boston.
